1990 Specialized Epic

Back Home Up Next

Specialized started making carbon bikes in 1989 by using Cro-Moly lugs with carbon tubes plugged into them.  This particular frame was raced by Paul Thomasberg (notice the custom serial number) and is on loan to us from Paul.  As you can see from the pictures, it has definitely been used as it was intended to be!  The later Epic bikes, substituted titanium lugs for the Cro-Moly lugs.

Many of the parts came from Paul and would have been original to the bike (far right picture).  For the parts that were missing, we tried to use similar "period correct" parts.

.Above is a picture of Paul at Mt. Snow in 1989 (riding this bike).
