1992 American Trials/Steeplejack

This is one of a handful of Trials bikes built by American. I have yet to find a catalog reference to it yet but there have been references to a Steeplejack model with 24"/26" wheels.  The Steeplejack frames all have serial numbers beginning with ST while this one has a serial of TRIALS 6 which leads me to believe it was either a prototype for the Steeplejack or a separate model.  These were likely available as a frame only which would explain the odd mix of parts on this bike including the original M700 Deore XT friction shifters.  Component highlights include the American-built aluminum fork, WTB Roller Cam brakes, WTB Ti bars and WTB Grease Guard hubs.  The most unusual part on the bike would likely be the solid-armed Magic Motorcycle cranks.  I wasn't sure how to make sure the cranks were solid so we weighed them vs. a regular set and the weight was right around double the weight of standard crank.  Bottom bracket height is right at 13" tall.
