1993 Mountain Goat Mudslinger

This bike is not for sale. The bikes and parts we currently have for sale can be found on the MOMBAT for sale page.

This bike was the prototype for the Mudslinger model and was the personal bike of William Jeff Lindsay (founder of Mountain Goat Cycles).  Aluminum is generally not thought of as a material for the smaller builders who typically build steel frames.  By the early 1990's, aluminum was being used by many large scale bike makers because it was perceived as a lighter and more current material than steel. It would make sense for smaller makers to give the material a shot, especially when Easton introduced their premium ProGram tubing.  Mountain Goat went one step further by CNC machining upper and lower stay yokes for the rear triangle of the frame.  These were referred to as the Towers of Power and lent a unique look to the frame.  Original MSRP for frame only was $1560.  Interesting parts on this one include Magura hydraulic rims brakes, Cook Bros. Racing cranks and the Mountain Goat Granola Bar ends.  The decals look to be samples printed on a vinyl background.  The handlebars are special edition bars from the 1993 Whistler Mountain Bike Symposium.  Haven't seen another pair of the handlebars anywhere else, probably not a common item.
