1997 Trek Y50

This bike is not for sale. The bikes and parts we currently have for sale can be found on the MOMBAT for sale page.

The Trek Y series of full suspension bikes were an iconic early full suspension design.  They featured a Unified Rear Triangle Design (URT) that kept the complete drivetrain on the same side of the suspension pivot.  This design kept the drivetrain isolated from the suspension movement (inchworming) but was inactive when standing.  Several companies used version of the URT but it has been relegated to the dustbin of full suspension designs.  The Y series was introduced in 1995 using OCLV (Optimum Compaction Low Void) carbon fiber construction.  There were 3 generations of the carbon frame with this being the middle one.  The 1997 only Y50 paint scheme and graphics were inspired by the police drama Hawaii 5-0 and Trek ads featured the bike riding a wave.  Built kit was top end with a Shimano XTR group, Ibis Ti bar/stem and OCLV carbon bar ends.  This one was obviously used sparingly.  Later in the year, a nude carbon Y50 was available as a frame and used Rasta colored accents.  Travel is 76mm for the fork and 1.75" on the rear.
